4 Winchester Firefighters Graduate from the Academy

We are proud to announce that 4 of our members graduated the Massachusetts Firefighting Academy (MFA) yesterday as apart of Class 298. The MFA is an arduous 10 week training program where recruits perform live fire extinguishment, physical fitness training, and practical application of firefighting skills. This is combined with in class learning.

Pictured here: Winchester Fire Chief Rick Tustin and Massachusetts Fire Marshall Peter Ostroskey with: FFOP Poitras, FFOP Campbell, FFOP Ierardi, and FFOP McManus.

It is an honor to announce that FFOP Poitras received the “Outstanding Student Award”. This award is given to the student who maintains the highest grade point average across all written and practical application exams throughout the program. Or as we call it “Top Jake”.

Congratulations on a job well done! We are so proud of you all! All four members are now ProBoard Firefighter I/II certified and Hazmat OLR certified.
